Community-Safeplace

Safe Place

Demos’ actively supports SafePlace in Florence, AL, a nonprofit working to help people affected by domestic violence.  Safeplace, Inc. was founded in 1978 as a result of community planning by concerned citizens and is the only comprehensive domestic violence project in northwest Alabama.  Safeplace serves Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Marion and Winston Counties.  The organization provides safe housing in a 40-bed facility where victims may stay for up to four months, three single-family transitional homes, and comprehensive services for victims throughout the six-county area.

Finally, Kristin Demos serves on the board for United Way including service as the former chair of the Communications Committee.

Awards-Child Adovcacy Center
Child Advocacy Center

Demos’ Restaurants is a longtime supporter of the Child Advocacy Center of Rutherford and Cannon Counties. The Center’s mission is to provide services to child victims of various types of physical and sexual abuse and their non-offending family members. Peter and Kristin Demos are ongoing leaders of the annual fundraiser Duck Derby with Peter volunteering his time with the logistics team and Kristin serving as the Chair of the Duck Derby for four years running.  Demos’ employees work hard each year to “adopt out “ ducks to help raise awareness and much-needed funds for the CAC. Over the last four years of involvement with the annual Duck Derby, Demos’ has contributed over $36,000.00 in duck adoptions and duck merchandise sales.  In addition, many of Demos’ employees volunteer their time to assist during the Duck Derby by working the day of the race. Many even come out to clean ducks at the annual Duck Tagging Party held to get the rubber ducks ready for their big day.  Take a look at Peter in the duck costume to help spur duck adoptions. Now that’s support!

Doris Dollars

Two years ago, Demos’ Restaurants created “Doris Dollars” in honor of the late Doris Demos, founder of Demos’ Restaurants, along with her husband Jim Demos.  We made “Doris Dollars” available as a fundraiser to the local Boys and Girls Club, providing a “Doris Dollar,” with a $7.50 face value for food at a Demos’ Restaurant, for every $5 donation to the Boys and Girls Club.  This past year Demos’ was able to donate $10,000.00 back to the Boys and Girls Club thru the Doris Dollars fundraiser.
